Hugo and the wrong blanket….

Last night Hugo woke about an hour after going to bed. He was really distressed.

I couldn’t work out what was wrong. The only thing that calmed him down was milk, but he would stop feeding and scream.

I decided he must be completely over tired and tried to put him back to bed, but he screamed the house down.

I was really puzzled. I had put him in a warmer sleeping bag as it has been pretty cold at night, so there was no way he was cold.

He has eaten and slept fine all day and didn’t appear to be sick. He had no sign of a temperature. It was really puzzling.

We decided to undress him just incase he had developed a rash since bath time.

No sign of anything. I was really puzzled. I decided he must be sick and was about to call the Dr for advice. I was convinced he must be coming down with something as he was inconsolable. Hugo is such a happy baby that I knew something was wrong.

I got the number for the on call Dr and was about to dial. I decided to try and put him to bed one last time.

As he had been so upset he was pretty hot. I decided to put him to sleep in his lighter blanket.

Within seconds Hugo was calm and sucking his thumb. The lighter blanket has a lot more spare material and he tends to curl his legs up so that the fabric rubs his nose. I guess with the fleece blanket it was too thick and much smaller and he couldn’t do that.

So tonight he has gone to bed with an extra layer on and a thin blanket! I won’t be trying the fleece one for a while….
