Beige be gone phase two…..

It’s time for the nasty kitchen cabinets to go. The whole of downstairs is going to be painted too. I think that will be the last of the beige gone. Hurrah.

Then it will definitely be time for a ‘beige is gone’ party.

On Thursday the old kitchen is being demolished. When we were in the process of relocating to Utah I sent Martin an email saying ‘hey honey I think I sold the house’. He was in Provo at the time. This week he is in England and he will be getting an email saying ‘hey honey the kitchen is gone’!

I was actually tempted not to tell Martin that the work was starting before he got home and see his face when he walked into the kitchen. Unfortunately Aoife is not very good at keeping secrets, so I figured it was pointless trying!

I’m getting really excited. As I was cleaning the countertop tonight I was thinking that it was pointless cleaning it as on Thursday it will be gone.

That got me thinking. As it will be demolished on Thursday why not have some fun with the kitchen before it goes. I’m thinking we could take some ‘before’ pictures and then I could let Aoife loose to colour the countertop. We could draw all over the cabinets too.

Is there any good reason why not?

We’re growing a penguin!

Aoife has been watching her penguin egg all afternoon hoping that it will hatch.

I am going to take it upstairs with me tonight otherwise I bet she will want to go downstairs very early tomorrow to check on it.

I’m sure that if she is this excited about a penguin she would be just great with a dog. I think they help with fear of thunder too.

Hugo loves green pepper!

I was trying to tidy up the kitchen tonight and Hugo was having great fun playing under the table and with the saucepans.

Then he found a green pepper. He started to munch on it and was clearly enjoying it. He has had red pepper before but not green.

I was just glad that I had moved the jalapeno peppers. (Yes Dad, I remember the story about Es and the chilis).

I think I should keep downstairs messy. Hugo has had such fun playing amongst the chaos.

Aoife is delighted with her ‘new’ camera. I have let her experiment with our old cybershot. She has been taking lots of pictures. She was so keen to take pictures that she forgot to put her clothes back on after going to the toilet. (I have no idea why she got half undressed to go). I was tempted to call her ‘the naked photographer’!
