Aoife keeps asking to take photos. I’ve let her have a go over the last few days. It is interesting what she wants to take. So long as she is careful and has the camera around her neck I have let her go for it. I thought the picture she took of her swingset and the trees was just beautiful.
She also took a picture of a mouldy peach on the lawn and a tomato that she had picked. She thought that daddy would want to see both of these. (And yes that is why the blog posting is prolific this week. M is in England and I am trying to keep him up to date!)

Aoife has come out with some great comments lately. I love this age- she can tell me all the things she is thinking about and it is really fascinating.
The other day I gave her a kiss and said ‘night night precious’. Her response was ‘if I am precious why don’t I live in a jewelry box?’
We were driving back from Finn’s house the other night and Aoife was looking at the stars. she asked me ‘if I give you my one dollar can we buy a telescope? Are they ten or eleven dollars?’
We talked about it for a bit and then she said ‘if I had a telescope I could look at the stars on the plane when we go to grandma and grandpas house and I could look down at their house too.’
When we are at the swimming pool a few weeks ago and I said it was almost time to get out Aoife said ‘can we stay until the sky goes dark?’
I think my favourite comment of the week though is ‘mummy- Owls eat mice. We could get an owl to get rid of the mouse’.

I’ve been trying to get Hugo into a routine that works for getting Aoife to school. I don’t want to be a slave to nap times and routines but if he is happy we are all happy. If I know when he is likely to need a nap then I can plan around it. As a result he is very content.
He has started waking sometime between 5.30 and 6.30 instead of his normal 7. He will then sleep for at least 2 hours after his feed and the whole routine for the day just doesn’t work with school times.
So I’ve been experimenting.
On top of this Aoife really wants to do ballet and gymnastics again. I want to be able to do stuff with her, but one of the classes are at the right time.
Today I was trying to go to the gym. Hugo just will not let me leave his sight without screaming. Sometimes he is ok if he doesn’t see me leave, but he lasts about 20 minutes before they come and get me. So after another frustrating attempt at leaving him we were sat having a cuddle near the entrance at Treehouse.
I noticed kids in ballet outfits arriving so went to enquire about afternoon classes. Officially you are supposed to be five, but the lady said Aoife could try a class out and see what the teacher thought. I am pretty sure she could pass for 5 without any problem so we will see.
When I told Aoife that she could go on Thursday she was just delighted. She wanted to know how long it was until Thursday, what time of day we would go on Thursday and what we would do before then.
I told her she was supposed to be 5 and that most of the kids would have done ballet before. Her response was a classic “that’s ok mummy- grandma has taught me all about ballet. She taught me pirouettes, plies and even arabesques’.
No problem then.
Having signed Aoife up for ballet I decided to try Hugo in the nest again. I just wanted to leave him for a few minutes so that he knew it was ok. I didn’t even bother going up to the gym as he was crying so loud. I went and got changed and grabbed my stuff. When I went back 10 minutes later there was no sign of a crying baby.
Guess what- someone had the brainwave of putting Hugo near Aoife instead of in the baby area. With a good view of his big sister he was perfectly content. So now I know what to do tomorrow! I guess Hugo adores Aoife as much as she adores him!
