I went up into the mountains on Friday with Laurence, a colleague from the UK.
We drove right up and over Emigration Canyon on the eastern side of Salt Lake City. It’s the canyon just north of I80.
I took a huge panorama of the view. It’s pretty large.

It’s spring and it’s time to start planning our vegetables for the next year.
First thing to be planted are sunflower seeds.
We chose some organic mammoth sunflower seeds.
Hopefully I’ll be organised enough to do four plantings of sunflowers. That means we’ll have beautiful flowers all the way from late June all the way through until October.
Aoife is very excited to be planting seeds.
Also on the list for the next few months: zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, two kinds of carrots, lettuce (although I think we’ll be suffering with heat), water melon and finally pumpkins.
One of my ‘honey-dos’ for the next week or so is to take the great compost from the compost bin and dig it into the vegetable plots.
