It’s not the length that’s the problem…

.. it’s the girth.

We went ski boot shopping – this time to REI for some real boot fitting.

I’ve always been told my feet and calves are too big for regular ski boots and that I’d have to have them made. We went to get another opinion.

I was measured and tried on the largest boots in the store – mondo 31s – too small. My toes were cramped over, my calves were crammed in tight and were burning.

The recommendation is to drop $500-$750 and get some made for me. Special order boots, custom ground footbed, custom fitted ankle supports.

Sigh.
