Video from Cub Camp
It took some time – but here’s a long video of Aoife at Cub Camp. Enjoy.
(As before it’s a new way for the video; it might take a few minutes to load on a slow connection).

When we got married we bought a Bosch washing machine from John Lewis. It just kept going and going. When we moved to Utah four years ago we got another Bosch washing machine – we expected the same.
About a month ago the washing machine stopped working. To be precise it was 24th August.
We called out our local Bosch Authorised service people; they came and said the motor, the control board and some other pieces needed replacing.
“No problem” we thought; the big pieces are under warranty; Bosch is a premier brand – we’ll have it running in days.
Not at all. The motor and control board took over two weeks to come in; then we were in England; when we arrived back the service company had cancelled our appointment. (Long story).
Evenually after some serious shouting from Grania – the service guy came out this afternoon. With all the correct pieces. Then he snapped the motor mounting brackets. Another six-eight weeks for them to come in.
Not acceptable. Over six weeks without a washing machine; with a baby on the way; is not good.
I’ve got calls in to Bosch Appliances USA. We’re buying a replacement washing machine tonight.
Not happy.
[Edit - I collected a new washing machine - at least we are able to do laundry now]
The weather has changed. It’s now sunny and cold. There was frost overnight.
I went out with Aoife this morning to give Grania some rest; we went geocaching and then shopping.
Aoife is now sitting in the kitchen with me – I’m cooking, she’s colouring – we’re listing to reggae.
I’m slowly catching up on blogging from the last few weeks away. Internet troubles stopped these getting posted live.
Last weekend we went to Cub Camp with Aunty Rachael (Akela). Aoife had a great time – playing with ‘Aunties boys’ – ten boys between 8 and ten.
We have video too – I’ll put that up later.
Up and out early this morning – we needed to get to Heathrow for the 8am flight. Grania said that meant leaving at about 5am! Urg.
Aoife got up early too. She knew we were flying home early – so she managed to sneak out of bed just before 5am and into Grandma and Grandpa for one last hug and a story.
Flying home was great. Aoife slept for a lot of the flight, Grania slept and rested well. All of our bags arrived and immigration was a breeze.
Aoife told the immigration lady that “Mummys tummy is really huge now”; Grania responded that “That’s because the baby is coming soon”. The immigration agent had a few seconds of panic and asked if we needed a wheelchair to reach our other terminal!
we are currently in the United Lounge in the terminal; we’ve got a few hours to kill before our flight. Probably a stretch, something to drink, some running around and playing for Aoife. Should be back in Utah in good time for Aoife to have a ‘normal’ bedtime.
We were in London today walking to the bus – and we saw some red telephone boxes. Aoife was fascinated. She wanted to know what they were for.
When we told her it was a telephone in a little house with a door – she said “What’s that for?”. She thought it was the funniest thing that people would stand in one.
I guess that’s what you get for a child of the ‘noughties’ – where everyone has a cell phone.
We left Utah at the end of summer; it looks like we’ll return at the start of winter.
There are snow warnings for the mountains – and frost in the valley. Last week it was 30′C…
I’m in Paris, Grania and Aoife are in London.
The saga of the website continues – it looks like this website is now working correctly (hurrah) – as is the email.
Rachael has a cub scout website – that is currently broken.
It’s typical – no problems when I’m around to fix things – but as soon as I get on the road everything starts to fail.
On top of that Grania had email problems last night too. Cycling the power on Grandpa’s DSL fixed that.
